Shawn Fanning

  • Shawn Fanning was founder of Napster, the popular file-sharing service that was shutdown in 2002 after legal battles with the music industry. He went on to start two other companies, SNOCAP and Rupture. Rupture was purchased by software company Electronic Arts in 2008.

  • Life and Career

    Shawn Fanning is a self-taught software developer. He dropped out from Northeastern University as a freshman in 1999 where he was studying Computer Science to focus full-time on building Napster.

    Fanning grew up on Cape Cod and graduated from Harwich High School in 1998.
