Sand was granted a temporary restraining order against her husband, Romain Chavent, in early December 2008 after claiming that he punched, choked and threw her across the room. Sand made the following statement about her husband's alleged abuse, "[He] hit me in the breasts, which I just had reconstructive surgery." She also added, "[He] once threatened to sell nude photos of my children that he took of them when he was babysitting."
