Shaun Ellis is a professional football player for the NFL’s New York Jets.

On December 23, 2008, the New York Jets fined Shaun Ellis $10,000 dollars for throwing snowballs at fans after the Jets loss to the Seattle Seahawks on December 21, 2008. Ellis claims the incident was in jest and was not meant to harm any of the fans. Shaun Ellis was born in Anderson, South Carolina on June, 24, 1977. He attended high school at Westside High School in his hometown. He continued his education at the University of Tennessee. In his first season with the Jets Ellis appeared in all 16 games and recorded 53 tackles and 8.4 sacks. In 2003, Ellis recorded his best season in the NFL. Ellis started all 16 games for the Jets while recording 69 tackles, 48 of which were solo and 12.5 sacks. For his effort, Ellis was selected to his first Pro Bowl team. On December 5, 2008, news agencies reported that Shaun Ellis was arrested and charged with speeding, driving without insurance and marijuana possession.

Ellis released a statement in response to the incident: "I apologize to my family, the fans and the organization. As a captain, I set a poor and selfish example for my teammates, as well as all NFL players.
