Shaun Alexander Released

  • Former NFL MVP Shaun Alexander was released by the Seattle Seahawks on April 22, 2008.

In the 2008 offseason, the Seahawks signed running backs Julius Jones and T.J. Duckett, theoretically to replace the popular Pro Bowl Running Back. Alexander is due to make 4.475 million dollars in 2008, and had a contract with the team through 2010.

In the past few seasons his production has decreased significantly due to injuries. In 2006 he missed six games with a broken bone in his foot, and in 2007 he missed three games with a sprained left knee, at the same time playing with a broken wrist. Which he was recovering from at the time of the announcement.

He will turn 31 in August.
