The new NBC reality series Shark Taggers is scheduled to premiere summer of 2009. In this series we will see marine biologists catch sharks, collect data, place satellite transmitters on the sharks and finally release them back into the ocean. The nature of bull shark attacks will also be explored. Thom Beers is the creator and executive producer of the show along with Gail Berman and Lloyd Braun.
Shark Taggers was announced during NBC's "infronts". Although the series will not premiere until summer 2009, NBC co-chairman Ben Silverman decided to announce the new lineup six weeks ahead of other networks. The entire programming season from summer 2008 until the end of 2009 has been announced.
