Shane Victorino

Shane Victorino is an outfielder that currently plays for the Philadelphia Phillies. He was born on November 30, 1980 in Wailuku, Hawaii. Victorino attended St. Anthony's High School, where he was an all star in baseball, football, soccer and track. He was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the sixth round of the 1999 amateur draft. He was then a rule five draft pick with the San Diego Padres in 2002. Shane Victorino entered the 2010 season as the starting center fielder for the Phillies and the number seven hitter in the batting order. He went to the leadoff spot when Jimmy Rollins injured his right calf. Victorino had four hits in five at bats on April 14 versus the Washington Nationals. Shane Victorino Minor League Career

Shane Victorino began his minor league career in 1999 with Great Falls, the A affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers. He lead the club in steals with 20. Victorino spent the 2000 season in the Independent League with Yakima and lead the league in stolen bases with 21. During 2001, Victorino played for Wilmington, A affiliate. He played in 109 games, had 38 multiple hit games and was the Dodgers Minor League Player of the Month for July. He moved up to AA affiliate Jacksonville in 2002 and lead all Dodger minor league players with 45 steals. Victorino started the season with the San Diego Padres but was returned to the Dodgers on May 28 and sent to Jacksonville. He was advanced to AAA affiliate Las Vegas in August. In 2004, Victorino set career highs in home runs in a season with 19 and runs batted in with 63. On December 13, 2004 he was selected by the Philadelphia Phillies in the rule 5 draft. Shane Victorino Major League Career

Shane Victorino made his Major League debut with the San Diego Padres on April 2, 2003. He got his first Major League hit against Shawn Chacon of the Colorado Rockies on April 20. In 2005, Victorino had 5 hits in 17 at bats in 21 games with the Philadelphia Phillies. Shane Victorino played in 153 games for the Phllies in 2006. He played right field and finished sixth in the National League in outfield assists and did not commit an error the entire season. in 2007, he was the opening day right fielder. Victorino set career highs in nearly every offensive category and was sixth in the league in stolen bases with 37 and in outfield assists with 10. Shane Victorino was the starting center fielder in 2008 after the departure of Aaron Rowand. He won his first Gold Glove Award, was fourth in outfield assists, fifth in triples and sixth in stolen bases. He was instrumental in the Phillies playoff success. Victorino hit the first Phillies grand slam in playoff history against C.C. Sabahtia of the Milwaukee Brewers. Shane Victorino started 2009 by playing for Team USA in the World Baseball Classic. He made the mid season All Star Game and won his second straight Gold Glove Award. Victorino also lead the National League in triples and was in the top ten in four hit games, at bats, multiple hit games, runs, hits and doubles.
