  • Shane Hnidy is a Canadian born professional hockey player currently playing for the Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League.
  • Early Years

    Prior to playing in the NHL, Hnidy played for the Swift Current Broncos and the Prince Albert Raiders of the Western Hockey League, starting in 1991. He was drafted 173rd overall in the 1994 NHL Draft by the Buffalo Sabres. Hnidy continued to play in the minor leagues for the next few seasons, in the American Hockey League. In 1998, he signed as a free agent with the Detroit Red Wings.
  • Recent Career

    Hnidy was traded to the Ottawa Senators on June 25, 2000, making his NHL debut that same year. He was limited to just 33 NHL games during the 2001-02 season because of a knee injury. On March 9, 2004, he was traded to the Nashville Predators, where he played for just nine games before the NHL Lockout. Hnidy was then sent to the Atlanta Thrashers on July 30, 2005. He played two full seasons in Atlanta, then entered the free agency in the off season. On July 5, 2007, Hnidy signed as a free agent with the Anaheim Ducks. The following year, on January 2, 2008, the Thrashers traded Hnidy to the Boston Bruins.
