Life and Career
Shalim Ortiz was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico. His father is actor Elin Ortiz, and his mother is singer Charytin Goyco.
Ortiz and his family moved to Miami, Florida where Ortiz pursued a career in modeling. He soon partnered with Emilio Estefan as his representation.
Eventually he began to get work in supporting roles on TV series, and his big break came when he was cast as Alejandro Herrera on NBC's Heroes.
