Alas Shakespeare is already married, but it is only a marriage on paper. Lady Viola is also set for an arranged marriage by her family to the Lord Wessex Colin Firth who she detests. Reviews
"The movie serves as a reminder that Will Shakespeare was once a young playwright on the make, that theater in all times is as much business as show, and that "Romeo and Juliet" must have been written by a man in intimate communication with his libido."—Roger Ebert Chicago Sun Timeshttp://rogerebert.suntimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/19981225/REVIEWS/812250306/1023"...a well-produced, cleverly scripted, beautifully designed and superbly performed film: earthy, hearty and full-bloodedly entertaining. Bill the Bard would have been proud."—Tiscali.ukhttp://www.tiscali.co.uk/entertainment/film/reviews/shakespeare_in_love.html
