Woody Allen wrote, directed and starred in the 1991 movie Shadows and Fog, so named for its black-and-white portrayal of a small town murder mystery. The movie was released in the U.S. in 1992. Like many of Allen's films, this one co-starred his then-wife, Mia Farrow.
Plot Synopsis
Kleinman (Woody Allen) wakes up one night to find a group of his neighbors on his doorstep, asking him to help them catch a serial killer in their midst. He agrees, but they disappear before he can join them. Wandering the streets looking for them, Kleinman runs into Irmy, played by Mia Farrow, a circus performer who has run away from her husband, played by John Malkovich, after catching him fooling around with the trapeze artist, played by Madonna. Reviews
"An inconclusive charade for celebrity guests, Allen's film will add to the general sifting through the oeuvre for relevances to his personal predicament, without registering as a work on its own."—Time Out Film Guidehttp://www.timeout.com/film/reviews/74427/shadows_and_fog.html
"A listless workshop for a picture, not a cohesive picture in itself, and therefore less entertaining or enlightening than anything I've ever seen His Neurotic-ness [Allen] throw together."—Nick Davis, Nick's Flick Pickshttp://www.nicksflickpicks.com/shandfog.html
