Shadow of a Doubt is a thriller film written by Alma Reville and directed by Alfred Hitchcock. It was based off a story by Gordon McDowell and was released on August 16, 1943. The movie stars Teresa Wright as a small town high school girl named Charlie. Uncle Charlie, played by Joseph Cotten, comes to visit. After learning that detectives are investigating Uncle Charlie, Charlie becomes curious—and eventually discovers the unthinkable about him. Shadow of a Doubt was nominated for an Academy Award in 1944.

Plot Synopsis
Shadow of a Doubt tells the story of a young, small-town girl named Charlie, played by Teresa Wright. Charlie's uncle Charlie, played by Joseph Cotten, comes to visit upon her request. Two detectives, played by MacDonald Carey and Wallace Ford, begin asking questions about Uncle Charlie. Curious about the questioning, Charlie does some research and finds a newspaper article revealing the truth about her uncle—that he is a mass murderer who kills wealthy widows. Henry Travers, Hume Cronyn and Patricia Collinge co-star. -
