Seton Hall University is a four year Catholic institution of higher learning. It is located 14 miles from New York City in New Jersey. The university was founded as Seton Hall College in 1856 by James Roosevelt Bayley. Organized into a university in 1950, the institution was named after St. Elizabeth Ann Bayley Seton, the first United States born saint of The Roman Catholic Church. Seton Hall University Heritage
Since its inception as Seton Hall College, Seton Hall University has been dedicated to provide "a home for the mind, the heart and the spirit," in the words of its founder, Bishop James Roosevelt Bayley, son of St. Elizabeth Ann Bayley Seton. Although Catholic in heritage, the institution was made open to people of any faith and any color early on. During its first dozen years, Seton Hall University accepted students from 17 states and 7 countries. Dining Options at Seton Hall University
Seton Hall University offers a wide range of dining options to its students. Several students, of diverse ethnic heritage, talk about their favorite food at Seton Hall. One student calls the food "gourmet." It turns out that the then newly renovated food center offers diverse dining options, that included salads, wraps, sandwiches, crepes, pizza and sushi. Organic vegetables are offered. Students can also make their own pasta and soups.
