Sergio Mitre

  • Sergio Mitre is a pitcher in the New York Yankess organization.

    While attending San Diego City College Mitre was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the 2001 MLB Draft. After two seasons with the Cubs' minor league affiliates, he made his MLB debut on July 22, 2003. Mitre played 12 games during the 2004 season with the Cubs, then 21 more the following season, including his first shutout on June 15, 2005 against the Florida Marlins.

    Six months later the Cubs traded Mitre to the Marlins on December 7, 2005. He saw limited playing time over the 2006 and 2007 seasons due to various injuries, playing in just 42 games those two years combined.
