While attending graduate school at Stanford University, Sergey Brin and Larry Page collaborated on a paper called "The Anatomy of a Large-Scale Hypertextual Web Search Engine." This led the pair to launch the Google search engine in 1998. -

Sergey Brin met Larry Page in 1995 while they were both pursuing advanced degrees in computer science at Stanford University. Both had an interest in search engines and the web, which led them to co-author a paper on these very subjects.The two soon developed the PageRank algorithm that would become a cornerstone of Google's success. In 1996, the first version of Google was launched on Stanford's servers, and in 1998 the two partners founded Google, Inc.
In 2006 both Larry and Sergey were ranked by Forbes as the 26th richest people in the world.
