Rumors have circulated about a sequel to Joss Whedon's 2005 sci-fi film, Serenity. The first film did not perform hugely well in box offices, and Whedon made statements in 2006 that there would be no sequel. But sales of the DVD have been popular enough to prompt a "Collector's Edition" of Serenity. Interviews with both Whedon and actor Alan Tudyk have mentioned that continued sales performance make a sequel possible. Both have mentioned that said release would most likely released straight to DVD.
