During her U.S. Open semi-final match against Belgian Kim Clijsters on September 12, 2009, Serena Williams reacted badly to receiving a foot fault. She cursed at the line judge who made the call, causing the line judge to advise the chair umpire that Williams had been verbally abusive. On November 30, 2009, Grand Slam Tournament officials announced that they would be fining Serena Williams an additional $82,500 as well as placing her on probation for the 2010-2011 Grand Slam season. This is terrible. It ruined the whole Women's US Open for me. I would have asked for my ticket money back. That particular Line Judge has had problems with Serena before so I think she was biased. And the way that she ran away from Serena acting all scared and being overly dramatic was so lame. Like Serena would actually stoop to beating her up or violence... total bs!!! I am old enough to remember Ilie Nastase, Jimmy Connors and McEnroe going off waaaay more than Serena did and not being fined or penalized one little bit for it! Plus there were others during this particular US Open that slammed their rackets and were yelling and being grumpy that didn't get fined or penalized... this was *really* unfair. These athletes are high-tuned and high-strung and that is a part of what makes them so great. I think because Serena is African American that they feared her. She is NOT some criminal that would do ANYONE any harm and I think they owe her an apology!

We love and support you Serena Williams!! Don't let the haters bring you down girl!!!!

okY, SERENA was wrong only in what she said... the linesman was wrong for making the call at that point in the match... but what about John McEnroe. I can't even imagine what he used to say! How can he comment on Serena's behavior??

They can't win fair and square so they have to get this petty little unhappy woman line-judge to flex her little power trip. I'm sorry but I never want to see this line-judge again. Her career should be over as a tennis judge. She is a petty and angry little woman.
