On November 26, 2008, an op-ed in the Washington Post suggested that when Hillary Rodham Clinton resigns from the U.S. Senate to become secretary of state, the governor of New York should appoint her husband and former president Bill Clinton to take her place.
Governor Paterson's Choice
Aides to Governor Paterson told Newsday that he would prefer to appoint a minority to replace Hillary Clinton, and that he'd prefer a woman and/or someone from upstate New York.
