Semi-Pro is a comedic film about a basketball coach named "Jackie Moon" played by Will Ferrell.
Storyline
Jackie Moon is the owner, coach and star player of the Flint Tropics in the American Basketball Association in 1976. As the ABA is set to merge with the National Basketball Association, Jackie learns that for the Tropics make the merger, they must be in the top four in the league and also have 2000 fans at each home game. Jackie begins his crusade to save the Tropics by trading the team's washing machine for a star player Ed Monix, played by Woody Harrelson. He also tries unconventional methods to bring fans to their home games, such as giving fans incentives if the Tropics win and wrestling a bear on the court.
