  • Self defense refers to whatever actions a person takes to defend his or her person, property or home from an attacker. Self defense can take on verbal, physical, armed and unarmed forms. Many individuals study a martial art as a form of unarmed self defense.
  • Self Defense Tips

    1. Be alert at all times.
    2. Understand your surroundings. Walk in areas that are open, well lit, and well traveled.
    3. Don't wear headphones when walking in an isolated area.
    4. Carry a cell phone.
    5. Take a self defense class. To find the class that's right for you:
      1. Be clear that you want to learn "self defense" not tournament fighting.
      2. Visit several schools.
      3. Watch a class.
      4. Meet the instructor.
      5. Ask others for recommendations.
  • The Castle Doctrine

    The Castle Doctrine or Law designates one's home or car as a place in which you have the legal right to protect yourself from trespassing or violent attack. Castle Laws are legislated by the state.
