Sela Ward is an American actress. She was born on July 11, 1956 in Meridian, Mississippi. She has three siblings. Ward attended the University of Alabama where she majored in art and advertising. Ward was romantically linked to football player Bob Baumhower during her college years. In 1992, she married venture capitalist Howard Sherman. They have two children together, Austin and Anabella. Ward provided partial funds for the building of "Hope Village" which is an emergency shelter for children in need of foster homes.
Acting Career
Ward began her career as a model. She worked for the Wilhelmina agency and appeared in television commercials for Maybelline cosmetics. Ward made her film debut with a role in the 1983 film The Man Who Loved Women. Later that year, she played in the television series Emerald Point, NAS. Ward landed a role in the television series Sisters as Teddy Reed for which she won an Emmy Award. The show aired from 1991–1996. Since then, she has played in the films The Fugitive, My Fellow Americans, 54 and Runaway Bride. In 1999, she starred in the television series Once and Again as Lily Manning. The showed aired until 2002. Her recent works include Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights, The Day After Tomorrow, Suburban Madness, House and The Guardian.
