Initially developed exclusively for the PSP, Secret Agent Clank is a spin-off of the Ratchet and Clank series, starring Clank in the role of a 007-spoof secret agent. To fit with this theme, Clank wears a tuxedo outfitted with a helpful array of gadgets and devices throughout the game. On March 16, 2009, President of Sanzaru Games, Glen Egan, announced via PlayStation's official blog, that the game will be ported from the PSP to the PS2 for release on May 26, 2009.IGN: Secret Agent Clank Announced for the PS2 (March 16, 2009)
Gameplay
Secret Agent Clank employs a typical Ratchet and Clank blend of the shooting and platforming genres, while delving deeper into stealth and melee. Captain Qwark and Ratchet are also playable. Qwark's segments are dubious action-based accounts of his past exploits, while Ratchet's fight sequence segments in prison force him to confront enemies from past games.
Story
The story is focused on the adventures of Ratchet's beloved robot sidekick, Clank, and his secret alter-ego, Secret Agent Clank. Set after Size Matters and prior to the events of Tools of Destruction. Ratchet is in prison awaiting trial, having been framed for a crime he didn't commit. The trial is "fixed" and he is unjustly found guilty. Clank dons his Secret Agent Clank persona and investigates to free him. He acquires new abilities along the way (Clank-Fu), and gains access to new weapons, e.g., bow tie boomerangs, cuff-link bombs, jet boots. While Clank investigates, Ratchet fights enemies he defeated in prior games.
