  • Indie rock band Sebadoh rose to prominence as part of the "lo-fi" movement of the early 1990s, alongside bands such as Pavement, Guided By Voices and Yo La Tengo. Frontman Lou Barlow was a bassist and songwriter for the legendary alternative rock outfit Dinosaur Jr., and started Sebadoh when he was still in that band along with friend Eric Gaffney.
  • History

Much of the output of Dinosaur Jr. was dominated by lead guitarist J. Mascis, leading Barlow to save most of his own original songs for his side project, Sebadoh. After Barlow was kicked out of Dinosaur Jr. in 1989, he and Gaffney were joined in Sebadoh by Jason Loewenstein and the trio self-released four albums: The Freed Man, Weed Forestin', The Freed Weed and Sebadoh III.

In 1991, after touring with fIREHOSE, Sebadoh was signed to Sub Pop Records. Five more albums followed on the indie label: Smash Your Head on the Punk Rock in 1992, Bubble and Scrape in '93, Bakesale in '94, Harmacy in '96 and 1999's The Sebadoh.

A reunited Sebadoh began touring in March of 2007. They will play the complete Bubble and Scrape album at 2008's All Tomorrow's Parties festival.
