The Seattle Biomedical Research Institute is the largest independent, non-profit organization in the United States devoted to infectious disease research. Its research focuses on HIV/AIDS, Malaria, microbial pathogens, trypanosomatids, and Tuberculosis. It has partnered with the PATH Malaria Vaccine Initiative to develop and test a Malaria Vaccine. On March 5, 2008, the collaboration, known as the Human Challenge Center, announced that it was seeking volunteers, who would be paid for participating in vaccine trials. Fast Facts:
