    Sears, Roebuck & Co. was founded primarily as a catalog to for rural Americans to buy things not found in the local general store. The business was incorporated in 1893, and the following year, the extensive catalog contained more than 300 pages and the following year the catalog added another 200 pages. The first Sears retail store was founded in 1925.
