Early Years
McHugh attended Chagrin Falls High School in Ohio, where he played as a running back and linebacker. He earned four letters and was named to the Prep Star All-American Dream Team after topping 2,000 yards rushing as a running back.

Pro Career
He was originally drafted by the Titans in the 2004 NFL draft as a seventh round pick (241st overall).
