  • Early Life

    Sean Thomas Casey was born in Willingboro Township, New Jersy on July 2, 1974. He would attend Upper St. Clair High School in Pittsburgh where he would develop into an excellent hitter. He would move on to the University of Richmond where he would establish himself as one of the best young hitters in Division I baseball.
  • Pro Career

    Casey would be drafted by the Cleveland Indians in the second round of the 1995 Draft. He would make his Major League debut on September 12, 1997 for the Indians. In 1998, he would be traded to the Cincinnati Reds. He would enjoy his best years in Cincinnati, establishing himself as a fan favorite and one of the friendliest players in baseball for his willingness to talk to fans and fellow players, as well as his participation in various charities. He was also regarded for his excellent hitting where he would earn three National League All-Star Appearances. In 2005, he would be traded to the Pittsburgh Pirates, then in 2006 to the Detroit Tigers. He would also help help to lead the Tigers to the American League Championship. In 2008, he would sign a one year contract with the Boston Red Sox where he plays first base and designated hitter on occasion.
