  • Sean Bean is an English stage, radio, television and film actor. He starred as Richard Sharpe in the Sharpe television series, Boromir in The Lord of the Rings Film Series and as the hitchhiker in the 2007 remake of The Hitcher.
  • Life and Career

    Sean Bean was born in Sheffield, England. His father owned a steel plating enterprise and his mother was a secretary. Their family lived in relative comfort as a result of the father's successful business.

    Bean won a scholarship to the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and after graduation began to work in theater and in minor parts on television. His big break in England came when he starred in the Sharpe TV series. After that, international audiences began to notice him when he played the villain in Golden Eye. He then gained wide spread media attention for his portrayal of Boromir in the The Lord of the Rings Film Series.

    In 2008, he stars opposite Sienna Miller in A Woman of No Importance and plays James Crusoe in the NBC period drama Crusoe.
