  • April 30, 2008: Ice Hockey star Sean Avery of the New York Rangers was hospitalized with a lacerated spleen. He acquired the injury during a second-round game loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins. The New York Rangers lost the game.

    Initial reports suggested that Avery had suffered a cardiac arrest just hours after the Rangers lost the game.
