Scott Weiland is the former lead singer of the rock bands Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver. Weiland was officially kicked out of Velvet Revolver on April 1, 2008, with band mates citing his "erratic behavior" as the cause of friction within the band.

Weiland raised speculation that he was inebriated when he slurred his words during the introduction to Pink's new track "Sober" at the 2008 AMAs. Weiland, who has battled alcohol addiction, admitted to TMZ in November 2008 that he still drinks. Weiland formed Stone Temple Pilots with friends Robert and Dean LeLeo and Eric Kretz in 1990, at that time known as "Mighty Joe Young." Their debut album, Core, was released in 1992 and boasted the massive hit single "Plush."

Weiland's ongoing struggle with drug abuse led to a 1995 arrest for allegedly purchasing crack cocaine followed by a separate incident in which Weiland was arrested for purchasing heroin. The band separated while Weiland spent some time in prison. While there were a few attempts to reform, Stone Temple Pilots were essentially over by 2001.

In 2003, Weiland joined several ex-Guns N' Roses members to form Velvet Revolver. Tension between the band members and a December 2007 DUI arrest culminated in Weiland's leaving the band.
