Scott Walker is a professional hockey player originally from Canada. He currently plays for the Washington Captials in the National Hockey League.
Walker began his career in the Ontario Hockey League, playing for the Owen Sound Platers. He was then drafted 124th overall in the 1993 NHL draft by the Vancouver Canucks. He spent one season with the Canucks' American Hockey League affiliate, the Hamilton Canucks before making his NHL debut in 1994. Walker split the next two seasons between the Canucks and the Syracuse Crunch, also in the AHL.
On June 26, 1998, Walker was claimed by the Nashville Predators in the NHL Expansion Draft. He spent the better part of seven seasons with the Predators, then was traded to the Carolina Hurricanes on July 18, 2006. Walker joined the Washington Capitals during the 2010 NHL Trade Deadline after being swapped for a 7th rounder.
Walker was fined $2,500 by the NHL, but not suspended, for punching Aaron Ward of the Boston Bruins during a May 10, 2009, playoff game. Ward and Hurricanes center Matt Cullen began to scuffle in front of the net when Walker skated over and punched Ward, possibly breaking a bone in his face.ESPN.com: Walker Fined for Punching Ward
