Canadian born comedian Scott Thompson joined the sketch comedy troupe The Kids in the Hall in 1984. The troupe's television series aired for five seasons in Canada and the United States, in the late '80s. Thompson played a gay character named Buddy Cole. In 2005, he hosted the first season of the Canadian reality television show, My Fabulous Gay Wedding, which was broadcast in the U.S. in 2007 as First Comes Love (Elvira Kurt has since replaced Thompson on the show). He has been nominated for three Emmy Awards, and has won three Gemini Awards.
