Scott Skiles was born March 5, 1964 in Laporte, Indiana. Scott began to play basketball in high school were he played for Plymouth High School and lead them to the Indiana State Championship scoring 39 points. Skiles then went on to play basketball for Michigan State University earning First Team All-American and Big Ten Conference MVP. He left MSU as its all-time scoring leader. In 1986 the Milwaukee Bucks picked Scott 22nd overall. Scott played for Milwaukee, Indiana, Orlando, Washington, and Philadelphia in ten seasons in the NBA. Scott was selected by the newly expanded team Orlando Magic in 1989 during the expansion and became a very good sixth man. In 1991 Scott Skiles won the most improved player and had 30 assists in Orlando on December 30, 1990. In 1996 Skiles had a serious shoulder injury and he left the NBA to go play for the European league. PAOK finished the season in third place with Skiles before Scott came back to the NBA to coach.
Scott Skiles 2009-10 Season
In 2009-2010 Scott Skiles became a favorite for coach of the year honors, coaching the Milwaukee Bucks to an unexpected playoff season. His Bucks started the season as a projected last place in the Central Division, before posting a 46-36 record and getting a 6 seed in the playoffs. Skiles coached a rookie point guard in Brandon Jennings, and had an elite center in Andrew Bogut before he got hurt. Also the Bucks got John Salmons at the trade deadline which helped push them to the best record after the all-star game. Scott Skiles might have got more consideration when is center, Andrew Bogut got hurt after a dunk. Landing on his elbow and breaking his wrist, ending his season. Skiles had to coach a rookie point guard and a bunch of below-average players into the playoffs and grabbing a surprising 6th seed to face the Atlanta Hawks.
