  • Scott Rolen is a third baseman for the Toronto Blue Jays. Rolen was a two sport star at Jasper High School, earning equal acclaim for his basketball and baseball prowess[1]. The Philadelphia Phillies drafted Rolen with in the 2nd round of the 1993 amateur draft, and he made his MLB debut in 1996. In [1997]] Rolen was voted National League Rookie of the Year. Rolen played for the Phillies from 1996 -2002 and won four Gold Gloves with the team. In 2004 Rolen was traded to the St. Louis Cardinals in exchange for Placido Polanco, Mike Timlin, and Bud Smith. The following season would be Rolen's best to date, batting .314, with 124 RBI, 34 HR, and capping the season with his 6th Gold Glove. After an injury riddled 2007 campaign, the Cardinals traded Rolen to the Blue Jays in exchange for third baseman Troy Glaus.

    Rolen has been heralded as one of the greatest defensive third baseman of all time, along with Hall of Famers Brooks Robinson and Mike Schmitt. Rolen's terrific range and arm strength can solidify the leftside of any infield[1]. At the plate, Rolen is a line drive hitter who can also hit home runs[2].
