Early Years
Podsednik was selected 85th overall in the 1994 MLB draft right out of high school by the Texas Rangers. He was sent to the Florida Marlins the following year, but returned to the Rangers in 1997 as a rule 5 draft player. After playing in the minor leagues for several seasons, he became a free agent and signed with the Seattle Mariners in 2000. Podsednik made his professional debut in 2001, playing five games with the Mariners, recording one run and one hit in six attempts at bat. In October of 2002, Podsednik was waived and picked up by the Milwaukee Brewers. He played 154 games in each of the next two seasons with the Brewers, recording a career-best .314 batting average in 2003. On December 13, 2004, Podsednik was traded to the Chicago White Sox. He saw a stand-out season in 2005, helping the White Sox win the World Series and earning his first MLB All-Star Game selection. Podsednik was released by the White Sox in November of 2007, then signed with the Colorado Rockies.
