Scott McCloud is a comic book artist and writer and is arguably the medium's leading theorist. His book Understanding Comics: The Invisible Art has become required reading for students of the comic book form and has receive praised from such industry luminaries as Art Spiegelman and Will Eisner.
McCloud's fictional work includes the science fiction/superhero comic Zot!, Destroy! and The New Adventures of Abraham Lincoln. He also wrote the three-issue limited series Superman: Strength for DC Comics.
McCloud has been an early and vocal supporter of many innovations in comic book creation and distribution including the creation of webcomics, micropayments for comic book chapters, a Creator's Bill of Rights to protect artists from work-for-hire practices and 24-hour comics in which an artist creates an entire comic in one 24-hour period.
