Scott Hawkins has been identified as the student killed in an attack on the Sacramento State University campus. According to reports, the 23-year-old Hawkins was beaten to death during an argument in a dorm room on October 21, 2009. Police arrested 19-year-old Quran Jones in connection with the attack. When officers tried to take him into custody, a knife-wielding Jones was shot and wounded. Ten days after Hawkins' death, his family received a letter from the hospital where Hawkins was taken telling them they owed $29,000 for his treatment. The letter said Hawkins was an "indigent patient." Hawkins' parents say their son did have health insurance; they added that they were told he'd died in his dormatory. Hawkins was apparently taken to UC Davis Medical Center where he received "trauma treatment."http://www.sacbee.com/topstories/story/2301084.html
