Scott Eckern

Scott Eckern was the artistic director of the California Musical Theatre from 2002 until his resignation on November 11, 2008. Eckern resigned from the theater after it became public that he had donated $1,000 to the Yes on Proposition 8 campaign. Proposition 8 and the Mormon Church

Shortly after Proposition 8 passed in California, gay rights groups pointed out that the Church of Latter Day Saints had encouraged its membership to donate millions of dollars to pass the Proposition. Protests were subsequently staged at Los Angeles' Mormon Temple and at other locations throughout California. Eckern is a practicing Mormon and attended Brigham Young University.
