Scot Shields

  • Major League Baseball pitcher Scot Shields currently plays for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.

Shields was originally drafted by the then named Anaheim Angels on June 3, 1997 in the 38th round of the MLB Draft. He immediately was placed with the Angels' minor league affiliates for his first few years.

On May 26, 2001, Shields was called up to make his MLB debut with the Angels. He played a total of eight games his first season, allowing only a single run in 11 innings he pitched. Shields was returned to the minors, where he played until 2002, when he was called up again.

He finished the 2002 season with the Angels, and played in his first post season game in the 2002 World Series, where the Angels won over the San Francisco Giants. Shields continued with the Angels as a full member of the roster, averaging roughly 75 games each season over the next few years.

In 2006 Shields played with Team U.S.A. in the World Baseball Classic.
