Germany's Scorpions were founded the in the mid-1960s by guitarist Rudolf Schenker. The band didn't break through internationally until 1979's Lovedrive album.
They were at the height of their fame when MTV began incorporating harder rock music into their daily rotation. Scorpions' video for the song "Rock You Like a Hurricane" exploded in 1984 and helped make the song a Top 25 pop hit in America. The band's tribute to the fall of the Berlin Wall, "Wind of Change," was another major hit for the group in 1991.Scorpions.com: Scorpions History
