Schutzhund, which means "protection dog" in German, is a sport that was developed as a test for German Shepherd dogs to evaluate the dogs' training and skills. Other breeds may also compete. If a dog passes the test, it will be ready to learn tasks such as search and rescue, police work and guide work.German Shepherd Dog Club of America: What is Schutzhund?
