School of Rock is a 2003 comedy from director Richard Linklater about a down on his luck musician (Jack Black as Dewey Finn) who takes a job as a substitute teacher in order to make money.
After learning that his students are musicians as well, he sets out to teach them about Rock N' Roll and helps them form a band to compete in the upcoming "Battle of the Bands" - all while trying to conceal the fact that he is not actually a teacher from the school's principal, as played by Joan Cusak. As a starring vehicle for Jack Black, the film was a critical and commercial success and went on to make over $100 million worldwide.
The movie is based on a true story and the School of Rock is a real business. This School of Rock Franchise is available in several states within the United States. There is also one in Mexico and one in Canada.
