Originally billed as "Akshen", Scarface was a solo act for Short Stop Records until he was discovered by Rap A Lot Records and invited to join the
Geto Boys. He adopted a slow and fluid lyrical style and began focusing on darker themes of violence and sex. His first solo album was released in
1991, after four successful releases from the Geto Boys. He continued to work both as a member of the Geto Boys and as a solo artist. In
2000 he split with Rap A Lot citing creative differences and signed with Def Jam South. He was also hired as a president and is responsible for signing popular rapper
Ludacris. His latest album,
Made, was released in
December,
2007.
