A scan gauge is an automotive device which plugs into a modern car's onboard computer and that can track fuel efficiency, fuel rate, battery voltage, engine and vehicle speed, coolant temperature and more. As gas prices rise, scan gauges are becoming a popular—although somewhat pricey—automotive accessory by which drivers can exert more control over their spending on fuel and repairs. Because the gauge continually reads your car's computer as you drive, you can see how slight changes in your driving habits can change your fuel consumption.
