Savana Redding

  • Savana Redding was at the center of a U.S. Supreme Court after she was strip-searched in middle school for extra-strength ibuprofen pills. Redding maintained that her constitutional rights were violated.

    At the time of the incident in 2003, Redding was a 13 year-old student of Safford Middle School in Arizona.     Redding was strip searched after a school official found ibuprofen on another girl at the school. The student told officials she had gotten the medication from Redding. The vice principal did not find any ibuprofen in Redding's bag and ordered a female nurse and her assistant to conduct a strip search.
