Satoshi Ishii is an Olympic Judo gold medalist from Japan.
Future in MMA
After winning the gold medal in judo at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, Ishii was regarded as a national hero in Japan. He then expressed interest in becoming a Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighter. Ishii soon signed a contract with a Japanese mixed martial arts promotion, despite the objections of the Japanese Judo Federation. Open Challenge
After winning the gold medal at the Olympics, Ishii issued a challenge to MMA heavyweight champion Fedor Emelianenko. Emelianenko seemingly ignored the challenge as Ishii has yet to prove himself in an MMA ring.
