Satay Origins
The origins of satay are debatable, but it is believed to have originated in Indonesia. The belief is that skewered kabobs were originally sold on the street by Chinese immigrants. Another possibility is that satay was influenced by Arabian kebabs. Satay became popular in Indonesia during the 19th century during an influx of Arab immigrants, to whom the satay meats are a favorite. Due to the popularity of satay in Indonesia, many variations of the dish have been created. -
