  • In an interview with CBS news anchor Katie Couric, vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin defended her previous assertion that being governor of Alaska, a state which is in close proximity to Russia, constituted a required foreign policy experience. When asked of any foreign negotiations with Russia she had been involved with as governor, Palin said "We have trade missions back and forth." Palin also commented on the national security aspect of Russia's location to Alaska.
