Lancaster attended "The Actors Workshop" where she studied to be an actor. She signed with an agent during her eighth grade year at school. She soon landed a role in the television series The New Class. She later went on to play in the drama Everwood. Lancaster is also a talented jazz and funk dancer.

  In 1993, Lancaster landed a role on the television series Saved by the Bell: The New Class. From there, she appeared in the shows Dawson's Creek, Undressed, That '70s Show, Half & Half, 7th Heaven, Scrubs, Crime Scene Investigation, Everwood, Boston Public, Dr. Vegas, What About Brian and Chuck.
