Sara Bareilles Love Song

  • Written in response to her record label's requests to write a love song, Sara Bareilles wrote and recorded "Love Song" in 2007.
  • Synopsis

    "Love Song" was the iTunes "Song of the Week" upon its release in June 2007, and gained popularity when it was featured in various commercials, most notably for Rhapsody.

    Through the 2007-08 holiday season, the song remained in the Top 5 of the iTunes charts, later peaking at #4 on the Billboard Hot 100.

    The music video of the song, directed by Josh Forbes depicts Bareilles inside of a jukebox, forced to play love songs for whoever pays. At the end, the juke owner lets her free.

    Bareilles followed "Love Song" with "Bottle It Up" in 2008.

  • Artist Facts

    Born in 1979, Bareilles sang in an a cappella group at UCLA, where she attended. Upon graduating, she played local clubs and independently released her debut studio album, Careful Confessions in 2004.

    She was signed to Epic Records in 2005, and released Little Voice in July 2007. The album peaked on the Billboard 200 at #7 thanks to the success of "Love Song."
