2008 Season
Holmes was named the MVP of Super Bowl XLIII after helping the Steelers defeat the Arizona Cardinals 27-23. He was later fined $10,000 for using the ball as a prop in the celebration after scoring the game-winning touchdown. Legal Troubles

Holmes was previously involved in two separate incidents in 2006. In May, Holmes was arrested in Miami Beach and charged with disorderly conduct. Apology for Marijuana possession
On October 27, 2008, Holmes released a statement regarding his arrest for Marijuana possession on October 23, 2008.
"I would like to apologize to my teammates, the Steelers organization, my family and the fans for my actions that caused me to miss Sunday's game. I recognize that I made a mistake and understand the significance of my actions and will not make any excuses for my behavior. I look forward to putting this behind me and to being accepted by my teammates and the fans as part of this team.
